We score every 300 inch plus bull that is harvested in camp.  We do not participate in the Wyoming Outfitters and Guides award program, we like keeping our great elk country quiet.

Wyoming Trophy Bull Moose Hunts

We hunt a very large elk country in north Jackson Hole which includes more National Park boundary than any other outfitter in Wyoming.  Including also the Teton Wilderness, Wineger Hole Wilderness, and the Jedediah Smith Wilderness.  Plus we can hunt from the south end of the Grand Teton National Park Boundary all the way east to the head of the Gros Ventre River drainage.

The Jackson Hole elk herd is managed at 11,000 head of elk and that is our main base of elk, but because of the vastness and having access to multiple elk areas in one big block, it gives us the opportunity to harvest bulls that migrate in from Dubois, WY winter range, Sand Creek winter range in Idaho, and the upper Green River winter range and feed ground from the Pinedale side.  When this is all layed out with the Grand Teton Park and Yellowstone Park boundaries at this level, the three wilderness areas along with the Gros Ventre River drainage and four different elk herds commingling creates a consistent pattern on bulls harvested and opportunity for trophy class bulls which creates a portfolio second to none.

We own 150 head of horses and mules that get used during the summer months so they are in shape and hunter user friendly.  Plenty of good quality hunting horses and mules play a big part in our success.    Five family members guide elk hunters every fall and many of the others have been with Swift Creek Outfitters for years.  The women family members do all the organizing and stay on top of the part that does not pertain to elk guiding.

With 36 years of elk only outfitter experience, big elk country, high end elk hunting ponies, seasoned elk guides, and the Swift Creek family members plus our great staff, is why we call ourselves Jackson Hole’s Premier Elk Outfitter.

Deposits and Payments

A $2000 deposit is required to book any of the hunts above.  Because of the demand from the day the hunt is committed to with the outfitter, the client has 14 days to have the deposit on the books unless other arrangements have been made.  The hunts above are booked on a first come first serve basis.  The first week of March a letter will be sent out pertaining to a $2500 2nd payment towards your hunt plus release forms to be read, signed, and sent back along with the 2nd payment.  The 2nd payment and release forms will be due by March 20th (only pertains to the client who is applying for the current year application period).

The elk licenses will be drawn on May 20th.  The final letter will go out to the client on the 1st week of June, will include final invoice and final necessary information pertaining to your hunt.  The final invoice will be due July 15th unless other arrangements have been made.  Listed prices are valid for 2024, prices subject to change on booked hunts and beyond.

No refunds will be made for cancelled hunts rather it be for the year you apply for a license or for hunts booked in advance.   All money is refundable if license is not drawn or you can roll funds to future hunts if there is an opening.  No refunds or adjustments for late arrivals, early departures, or no shows.

LICENSES

We handle all applications through our desk.   On the first week in December a letter will be sent out obtaining an information sheet for the client to fill out and send back by the first week of January along with proper funds.  After receiving the information sheet and funds, Swift Creek Outfitters will apply your information and funds into our outfitter portal, provided by the Wyoming Game & Fish Dept.  We advise you return the packet as soon as possible in case of a mail glitch.  We will want the packet here by Jan. 15th so that we’re not up against the deadline on Jan. 31st.

PREFERENCE POINTS

Preference points are needed to obtain licenses in Wyoming.  The regional elk areas that was passed by the Wyoming Game & Fish commission and the special elk license price increase that was passed by the Wyoming legislature will have a major impact on preference point creep.

Swift Creek Outfitters expects to draw 100% every year.  Individual preference point holders are still going to have to be very responsible in obtaining a preference point every year before the Oct. 31 deadline.

AIRPORTS AND TRAVEL

We will pick you up free of charge from the Jackson Hole Airport and take you to the trailhead and back.  Most hunters flying into Jackson Hole will use a taxi from the airport to the suggested hotel, and that is where we usually meet our clients.  It is always better to fly or drive in a day early and get some rest before your hunt begins.

FLIGHTS

It is always better to book your flights a few months earlier to ensure a better rate, especially if you are flying into Jackson Hole. The Jackson Hole Airport is the most convenient fly-in destination. Just make sure to start booking flights as soon as you draw your tag.

TAXIDERMY AND MEAT PROCESSING

We can suggest a good Taxidermist if need be, but we recommend you taking your trophy home if possible.  Meat processing can be done in Jackson within 12 hours of your flight departure.  All boxes are weighed out in 70 lb. boxes and dry iced ready for travel.  Your meat will be cut exactly the way you want it and packaged for the amount of people in your family.

TIPS

All big game hunting guides have a lot of responsibility and hard work every day.  They depend on tips to make guiding worthwhile and to ensure us to have experienced guides each fall.  We encourage 10 to 15 percent of hunt price for your guide, $150-$200 for the camp cook, and $100 for wranglers and packers.

GRIZZLY BEAR PEPPER SPRAY

If you are booked on any of the Archery Hunts, we advise that you purchase a can of Pepper Spray.  Rifle hunters can also have trouble with Grizzlies, but we let them decide on whether they want to make the purchase or not.  Most Pepper Spray canisters with holsters cost $40-$50 and can be purchased at almost any sports store.

Wounded Animal Policy

If you draw blood whether you and your guide find the animal or not, that is your animal.  We will do everything possible to find and retrieve, but another animal will not be taken.

“A highlight of our trip”

We did the one-hour ride first thing in the morning and had such a great experience that we returned the next morning for a two-hour ride. The first day we had the the guide all to ourselves and our boys (9, 14, & 16) loved the faster pace. The second day we had two other people in our group so it was a little more leisurely, but we loved the creek crossings and the amazing views. All of the horses in our group were easy to handle. Our 9-year-old had no difficulties at all. It was a treat having the dog running and splashing alongside us on the two-hour trip. We would definitely go back again.

“Great ride, lots of fun”

Went on the Kodak Hill (2-hour) ride with the family. We arrived without a reservation, but as advertised, we didn't need one. Plenty of horses and wranglers available. We were ready to go in about 15 minutes. We had never gone on a trail ride before, but the wranglers chose great horses for us and gave clear instructions. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and we stopped several times along the trail as he pointed out local landmarks. We had some good views of the Tetons from the trail, and even got to see a bear in the woods (Thanks Duke!). We had a great time.

“Highlight of our vacation!”

Our ride and the view from Little Pulpit was beyond our expectations! Our guide, Greg, was so patient with one of my daughters who had never been on a horse. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and sincere. I couldn't have asked for more. If you're looking to really get out in the backcountry this is the place for you.

“Wonderful, beautiful, and exciting ride!”

My husband , daughter and I went on the 3 hour pulpit ride this morning. We have ridden with 2 other outfitters in Jackson and this one is by far the best! The ride is varied. You cross creeks, climb hills, ride through trees and gorgeous fields of wild flowers. Our guides were very mindful of safety, checking our gear frequently. I highly recommend these outfitters!

“Awesome and great fun for the whole family!”

There are 8 of us that make a trip to GTNP every year (us parents have been going 22 years). We have 3 adults and 5 kids (ranging in age from 10 - 18). We found this jewel of a place 3 years ago and have made a point not to miss this the last few years. We just returned from our most recent trip and I want to give the Hill family and their staff kudos. Always such an enjoyable experience.

“Had a great day in the saddle.”

The four of us, myself, wife, and two teenagers had a lot of fun on a two hour trail ride. Two hours was plenty for us novice riders. The wranglers and guide explained everything we needed to know before and during the ride. The horses did what they were suppose to do, just keep pace with the others in single file. Beautiful scenery!

“Wonderful experience”

We had a wonderful day in the Tetons with a fun guide. We went on a 3 hour ride the first day and enjoyed it so much that we went on another 3 hour ride up to Big Pulpit 2 days later, 9,000ft! Great views and our horses were very responsive, well taken care of and surefooted even though we were going up steep terrain at times. I like the fact that we didn't need reservations.
