HUNTING GALLERY
We enjoy
serving our clients in what we know and do best! Look
for our advertisements in North American Hunter & Bugle
Magazines under Swift Creek
Outfitters. We have been
in this family run business for a long time. All of
our hunts are conducted on horseback in the backcountry.

Moss Lake
Pack-in Camp
Our
Moss Lake camp sits almost in the middle of the Teton
Wilderness area. It is a three hour pack in camp from
Base Camp. The Yellowstone Park line is 12 miles to
the north and approximately 8 miles from the Pacific Creek
Base Camp.
Spread Creek Pack-in Camp
We have
added a new camp to our operation, giving us three camps to
choose from and also spreading out the hunting pressure.
The new camp sits on the South Fork of Spread Creek in the
Gros Ventre drainage. For some of my hunters who have
been hunting with us for years this is not a new camp to
them. We used to own the Spread Creek Camp and in year
2000 we sold it and last spring we bought it back. Our
goal is to spread out the hunting pressure on our 3 camps.
Also, the Spread Creek Camp has an elk opener on Sept. 26th,
giving us three elk openers on the three camps. Plus,
the Spread Creek Camp has a few trophy class mule deer in
it. We're excited about our schedule and have put in
several hours of talking with the guides about how we should
book the camps. Of course our goal is to have a high
success rate with good quality.
The Elk
herd you will be hunting basically migrate from the
National Elk Refuge in
the spring from Jackson Hole. This country is
not real steep and is full of meadows, dark timber, open
high parks and some timber from the 1988 Yellowstone forest
fires. Both of these camps have the Wilderness Guide
law protection, which means non residents must hunt with an
outfitter. Our guides ride for the brand and are very
hard working Elk guides. I am there also and you will
enjoy the laughter we have in camp and on the mountains.
We have always had great memorable moments with our clients
and you too will enjoy this backcountry experience of a
lifetime with us!!

Our
horses are completely owned by us. We do not rent
them. They are second to none and have had a lot of
compliments on how well they do, even the guys with no
experience do fine.

LICENSES
We
handle all applications through our desk. We will send
you the applications after you have booked your hunt and we
have received your deposit. All applications must be
sent back to us. We feel by handling all applications
and checking them over has increased our drawing
average. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will
accept personal checks for the licenses when you apply for
the drawing, but we recommend that you send money orders or
cashiers check with your application. If you are
successful in the drawing you should receive your tag and
license within a week. If you are unsuccessful in the
drawing, your money should be sent back within a few
days. A $10.50 feed ground stamp and $10.50 conservation stamp are required in Wyoming
for all licenses. These stamps can be purchased from
Wyoming Game and Fish in Cheyenne or from any sport store
throughout the State.
PREFERENCE POINTS
Wyoming has gone to the preference point system for elk, deer, moose and sheep. 2007 will be the first year that a preference point will be used for obtaining a license for elk and deer. Hunters planning on hunting in Wyoming are now going to have to really pay attention to getting your preference points bought or you will get behind. We have been watching the new system closely, and as we understand it, in our areas one preference point will obtain you a license other than for moose and sheep.
We can't stress it enough to get your preference points bought and get booked early. Some hunters are booking two years in advance with this new point system to work with. We handle all applications and paperwork through our office. After you book your hunt and we have your deposit in hand, every bit of the application process will be handled by us and sent back to our address.
If you
have any questions about Preference Points and Fees, please
call.

DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS
The hunts
will be booked on a first come first served basis.
With the preference point system now in place you should be
able to obtain a license for the year you wish to book.
When you
have received notification that you have a license, a
$1000.00 2nd payment is required. Normally the elk
preference point drawing is the first week of March.
The remaining balance for the hunt is due upon arrival at
camp. Personal checks will be accepted for the $800
deposit and $1000.00 2nd payment or for any pre-payments.
Only cash or cashiers checks will be accepted upon arrival.
The total
price for the hunt covers everything except license fees,
taxidermy work, meat processing and your personal gear.
Deposits
are only sent back if you are unsuccessful in any drawing or
in case of death.
AIRPORTS AND TRAVEL
We will pick you up free of charge from the Jackson Hole
Airport and take you to the trailhead and back. Most
hunters flying into Jackson Hole will use a taxi from the
airport to the Antler Hotel or Anvil Hotel, and that is
where we usually meet our clients. It is always better
to fly or drive in a day early and get some rest before your
hunt begins.
SUGGESTIONS ON SAVING MONEY ON YOUR FLIGHTS
It is better to book your flights a few months earlier to
ensure a better rate. Also a lot of hunters,
especially in groups, fly into Salt Lake City, Utah and rent
a car and drive from there. A travel agent can help on
airfare as well. The Jackson Hole Airport is the most
convenient fly-in destination. Just make sure as soon
as you draw your tag you start booking flights.
TAXIDERMY
AND MEAT PROCESSING
We can suggest a good Taxidermist if need be, but we
recommend you taking your trophy home if possible. Meat processing can be done in Jackson within
12 hours of your flight departure. All boxes are
weighed out in 70 lb. boxes and dry iced ready for travel.
Average price to cut an average sized elk is $185. Your meat will be cut exactly the way you
want it and packaged for the amount of people in your
family. |
TIPS
All
big game hunting guides and cooks have a lot of responsibility and
hard work every day. They depend on tips to help make
this all worthwhile for them. A $200 tip is an average tip,
but if you fill out your tag, and you feel your guide put
out extra effort for you, then you can decide how much more
from there. Remember to tip the cook!
GRIZZLY BEAR PEPPER SPRAY
If you are booked on any of the Archery Hunts we advise that
you purchase a can of Pepper Spray. Rifle hunters can
also have trouble with Grizzlies, but we let them decide on
whether they want to make the purchase or not. Most
Pepper Spray canisters with holsters cost $40-$50 and can be
purchased and almost any sports store. |
